Sub-Working Group 3.1
Preventing Drug Use, Strengthen and expand evidence-based prevention activities
Prevention and early intervention strategies can reduce the impact of substance use and related crime and violence. Prevention activities educate and support individuals and communities to prevent the use and misuse of drugs and the development of substance use disorders. This working group will review international prevention tools and systems, evidence-based interventions in all six domains of prevention (community, environment, family, media, school, and workplace), and discuss opportunities for new initiatives related to substance use prevention. Participants should come from all sectors – government, civil society, academia, media, the private sector, justice and law enforcement officials, etc.
